Monet Gardens | Giverny, France
Images from a visit to Monet’s home and gardens in France. I loved seeing his home studio and the luminous, soft light filtered through the window. Light quality has been a preoccupation of mine in my work and, like him, I tend to prefer the clean light quality of southern facing diffused window light. We were grateful for the gloom & drizzle because the crowd was sparse and the clouds created the perfect diffused light for some shallow portraits of his flower garden.
“I am only good at two things, and those are: gardening and painting.”
“Color is my day-long obsession, joy and torment.”
